Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. She has been praised for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her film Piano won her an Oscar. Early on, the accomplished actress began performing on stage in various Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear, but she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actor. The college she attended was drama before moving to Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her goals. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut due to an accidental encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After that, she relocated into Los Angeles and tried to find films parts. In Swing Shift, she landed a role as a support. Over the past three decades, since her time in Los Angeles she has appeared in many films, TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
